TPL Feature: Ask the Pros!

TPL Feature: Ask the Pros!

We here at The Premier League believe that innovation is crucial for progress. It doesn’t necessarily always lead to progress, but it certainly creates chances to get better. That’s why we constantly take shots at creating something fresh and appealing within the world of professional gaming.

For the first part of a, hopefully, long series of updates like this, we would like to divert some attention towards one of such experiments that seems to have met a warm reception by the community. In case there are those who didn’t follow The Premier League live-streams so far, every matchnight features a live interview with one of the players, neatly referred to as “Ask the Pros!“.

In these post-match interviews, viewers can hear first-hand impressions the player’s had about the match right after it has ended, as well as interactively engage and ask him questions by posting them in the channel chat. You can check out a VoD of one of these below:

Post-match interview with Fnatic.n0tail, by Blaze.

As said, we’ve been getting a certain amount of feedback already, but we’d like to hear more. Feel free to tell us what you think in the comments!

I really enjoy the interviews, imo it should be something every tournament is doing. It’s commonplace in regular sports and that’s what eSports should really be striving for.

My only complaint is the one interview you did with the Fnatic guy (probably n0tail), the interviewer replied with “definitely” after every single answer which got very repetitive. Try to switch it up or maybe elaborate a bit on what they said. Other than that it’s great!

I would really enjoy these a lot more if there were some replays that could be inserted into the video to illustrate the conversation. I realise that this would take additional staff to edit and display the clips on the fly, but it would be a lot more interesting than just seeing the video of the interviewer.
